ACADIA - Italian network of Documentation Centres on Alcohol, compulsive behaviors, Drugs Addiction and AIDS

During a meeting held in Florence, on May 26, 2003, Acadìa was officially launched. Acadìa is the name of the Italian network of Documentation Centres on Alcohol, compulsive behaviors, Drugs Addiction and AIDS.

The founding Agencies are:

Centro Studi, Documentazione e Ricerche Gruppo Abele (centrostudi.gruppoabele.org),
dip&doc (http://www.regione.emilia-romagna.it/tossicodipendenze/dipdoc.htm),

Centro Documentazione ASL Ancona (http://www.asurzona7.marche.it/viewdoc.asp?CO_ID=2364).

The network aims at:

optimizing resources and know-how of the Documentation Centres that deal with pathological dependences
promoting easy access to the libraries, web sites, virtual reference desks of the Centres
supporting researches and continous training for professionals and students in the addiction field
promoting good practices,improving the quality of services and the evaluation methodology

The ACADIA offers:

access to libraries (books, reviews, grey literature and multimedial documentation )
bibliographic support to social research on AOD
virtual reference desk and access to OPAC and on-line databases to get documentation available both in Italy and abroad, trough ELISAD and SALIS organizations
